The Saṅkhya Framework · An Introduction

Saṅkhya

Saṅkhya — “that which enumerates”

An axiomatic system attributed to Maharishi Kapila and transmitted in the Saṅkhya Karika, read here as mathematics: a universe of oscillating unit volumes in which every constant is derived by counting — never measured.

\(\dfrac{1}{x} = 1 + x \;\;\Longrightarrow\;\; x = \dfrac{\sqrt{5} - 1}{2} = 0.618033988\ldots\)

The master equation. One seed ratio, from which the entire system unfolds.

01 · The enumeration

What Saṅkhya is

Saṅkhya begins where measurement cannot go. Instead of instruments it uses axioms; instead of readings it uses counts.

The Saṅkhya Karika — 68 sutras — lays out a complete account of manifestation. Its first sutra opens the investigation of the triple interaction of stresses; from there the system enumerates, step by counted step, how an unmanifest substratum becomes an observable universe.

Space, in this account, is not a void. It is a plenum: densely packed, immobile unit volumes whose only freedom is their internal vibratory state. Nothing travels; states transmigrate through harmonic oscillation, and oscillations are detectable only one way — by counting them. This is why the system bears the name it does.

The plenum in motion: every cell is immobile — only its vibratory state changes. The wave travels; nothing else does.

Two principles, three modes

Everything manifest arises between two poles: Purusha (Kx = 0.9149879), the maximum coherent ground state — and Prakriti, the nuclear or hadron state. Their interaction expresses itself through three modes of stress, the Gunas:

outward · maximum speed

Sathwa

The outward force, operating at maximum speed.

transitional · shuttling

Raja

The transition force, shuttling inward or outward.

inward · coherent

Thaama

The decelerating force acting inward — the coherent, bound state.

02 · The foundation

The axioms

The framework extracts twenty-one axioms from the source texts, organized into seven families — stated exactly, with nothing imported from physics.

Self-Similarity

  • SS1The ratio x governs all division and unity x = (√5 − 1)/2 ≈ 0.618034
  • SS2x satisfies the master equation 1/x = 1 + x
  • SS3All harmonic proportions are powers of x {x, x², x³, … x⁷}

Fundamental

  • A1Change exists 1 + 1 = 2
  • A2The first change equals one unit n = 1
  • A3The change of state equals two n + 1 = 2
  • A4The next sequential change equals three (n + 1) + 1 = 3

Space

  • S1Space has three dimensions dim(space) = 3
  • S2Space is not a void; it comprises elemental matter
  • S3Space forms unit volumes Vunit = 1
  • S4Space holds balance dynamically — the PHO state

Oscillation

  • O1A cycle has four phases 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
  • O2Oscillations are detectable only by counting
  • O3The fundamental resonant state is always coherent
  • O4Transmigration occurs through harmonic oscillation

Interaction

  • I1The change from 1 to 2 is simultaneous
  • I2Sequential flow is unidirectional only
  • I3Simultaneous interactions are instantaneous t = 0
  • I4Sequential interactions are time-ordered t > 0

Counting

  • C1The cycle 1·2·3·4 completes the decimal 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
  • C2The fundamental count C = 10^(2/x³) = 296,575,967

Emergence

  • E1Unity divides through the golden ratio 1/x = 1 + x
  • E2Seven emerges from volumetric expansion 2³ − 1 = 7
  • E3The PHO ratio 100/28 = 3.571428571…
SS3 — every proportion is a power of x.
O1 · O2 — the cycle closes, detected only by counting.
C1 — the cycle 1·2·3·4 completes the decimal.

03 · The unfolding

One ratio, a cascade of constants

Everything numerical in Saṅkhya traces back to x. Follow the chain downward — each constant is generated by the one before it.

·

The cascade derives itself when it comes into view.

Every value is computed live in your browser the moment its scene begins — nothing hard-coded, nothing measured.

x = (√5 − 1)/2 = 0.6180339887…

The seed. The unique positive ratio that divides unity self-similarly: the part relates to the whole as the remainder relates to the part.

Axioms SS1 · SS2

φ = 1 + x = 1/x = 1.6180339887…

Unity’s division seen from the other side. The Guna proportions close on it: 1 + x + x² = φ — holographic completeness.

Axioms E1 · G3

k = 21/3 = 1.2599210499…

The volumetric ratio: doubling a cube’s volume stretches its edge by k. The increment k − 1 = 0.2599… is the fundamental radial step from which physical scales are built.

Axioms S3 · O1

7 = 2³ − 1

Double the unit volume and eight cells result — one manifests, seven remain hidden and coherent. Seven is not chosen; it is what is left over.

Axiom E2

PHO = 100/28 = 3.5714285714…

The Perpetual Harmonic Oscillator ratio — the self-sustaining resonance of the plenum, requiring no external energy input. This ratio recurs throughout every Saṅkhya calculation.

Axioms E3 · SE2

C = 102/x³ = 296,575,967

The fundamental count: the number of cycles that closes the system’s counting interval, generated directly from the seed ratio’s cube.

Axioms C2 · SE1

Scales — (k − 1)/(7C) ≈ 1.25 × 10−10 m

Combining the cascade yields physical magnitudes: an atomic-radius scale from (k − 1)/(7C), a nuclear scale from (k − 1)/C1+x, and a span of manifestation running 103 decades — from Moolaprakriti at 1.344620 × 10−51 to Purusha (Kx = 0.9149879), the maximum coherent ground state. All values are dimensionless counts per cycle.

Swabhava — self-similarity. The zoom never ends and never changes: each period lands on a frame identical to the last. Scale invariance, felt.

04 · The hidden seven

The 1 → 8 principle

Saṅkhya’s most consequential geometric move is also its simplest: double a unit volume.

Doubling produces eight octants. One becomes observable; the other seven remain coherent — phase-locked, hidden, but fully real. The framework reads this 7:1 partition as the deep structure behind several familiar dualities: hidden versus observable, mass versus energy, the coherent superposition behind a single measured outcome.

Eight octants from one doubling: seven coherent, one manifest. The ratio 7:1 propagates upward — into the PHO ratio, into the atomic boundary (k − 1)/(7C), and into the framework’s mass–energy reading.

Seven coherent sources, one field: the hidden seven interfere into the single stable pattern that is observed.

05 · The claims

Derived values

The framework’s central claim is that quantities modern physics measures, Saṅkhya derives — forward, from axioms alone.
